Psychoeducational assessments in Vancouver
Psychoeducational Assessments allow for a comprehensive look at someone’s thinking and learning profile. I work with children aged 7 and older, youth, and adults. This process involves interviews, clinical observations, standardized tests, questionnaires, and document review. The result is a picture of someone’s strengths and needs, learning style, diagnoses (if appropriate), and recommendations. These will be discussed and also summarized in a report.
Common referral concerns
Specific Learning Disorders (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia): Why is my child having difficulty learning to read? Does she have dyslexia or is she just a little behind? What kinds of supports and strategies will help her achieve her potential?
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD): My child’s teachers say that he has trouble focusing and finishing work with one-on-one help. Why is this and what do we help him?
Giftedness and Twice-Exceptionality: Why does my child seem to excel in some areas and really struggle in other areas?
Impact of mental health (e.g., anxiety) on learning: My child is highly sensitive and has big feelings that get in the way of her learning and cause stress at home. What do we do?
Intellectual disability (and CLBC eligibility)
Please note: I do not provide assessments for autism spectrum disorders. I also do not work with families who are undergoing court proceedings at this time.
